Fern Sabo

PRINCIPAL/MANAGING DIRECTOR

A collaborator at heart, Fern is passionate about working closely with her clients to create compelling brands and innovative online marketing solutions. Moving a concept from the development stage to its delivery is sometimes an overwhelming path. Fern’s specialty is providing support and big-picture vision throughout the process. The digital world is a communication platform, a storefront, a representation of you and your project. Stepping into the virtual sphere requires a memorable look that makes a lasting impression.

Through discussion Fern ascertains your needs and develops a strategic plan to meet them. The resulting marketing assets or promotional designs will represent your brand in the virtual world. She makes the essence of what you offer clear to your target audience.

She shares her experience through organizations such as Friends of Kootenay Lake, GlobalCitizen.org and International Women’s Day. Fern’s mantra is “nature is my cathedral, community is my culture and family is my foundation.”

Beth Joy Austin

DIRECTOR OF DESIGN

Graphic Design
Beth found her true calling in the graphic design program at Vancouver Island University. While there, her hard work and talents won her the Visual and Applied Art Award for Graphic Design and also for Photography.

After graduating, she worked within a busy team in Nelson, BC for six years and another three on her own, before joining Spring Creative’s agency in 2019.

Preserving Originality
Many logos and digital work Beth sees have a homogenized look. “I try to marry the artistic and more digital sides of graphic design to create an original look. Being able to contribute an illustrative design—I love that.”

Working with People
Learning about the people she’s working for and their industry, business or approach inspires Beth. Excitement lies in the challenge of creating a solution for our clients’ needs.

Outside of Work
Hanging out with her husband and kidlits on a walk or outdoor adventure takes up her free time, along with a love of cooking.

Beth’s most treasured possession is her travel watercolour painting set, which she takes everywhere to paint the flora and fauna she discovers along the way.

Laurel T. Colins

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Thirty Years Experience
Thirty years in the film industry has taught Laurel that capturing the desired image on a live shoot takes planning and preparation. She practices principles of feng shui, such as intentional placement on set and after, when choosing imagery for digital use.

Always considering the thoughts and feelings evoked in your target audience by the imagery they see, Laurel helps your business stay on brand.

The Ethos of a Business
Just as the written word conveys information and emotion, so do the visuals of any promotional materials. By combining deliberate colour choices with recurring shapes and textures, Laurel develops cohesive visual imagery for your social media posts, website or promotional materials.
When chosen with care, pictures can emulate the ethos of your business; a colour palette can be as recognizable as a logo.

Visual Elements
Pulling together the visual elements of branding and marketing is a big job. Laurel enjoys helping people focus on their desired outcome to manifest what they want. “There is always beauty to be found; it’s the law of attraction,” she says with a smile.

At Play
Laurel divides her time between Nelson and Vancouver, BC. She downhill and x-country skis on days off and loves to create experiences: boating and beach explorations, treasure hunting at junk shops, walking, cooking and decorating with flowers.
Justin our videographer

Justin Randolf Joffe

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY & PRODUCTION

As a child who disassembled his first bicycle and then the family TV set, it was clear from an early age that Justin was going to be both inquisitive and very creative. Photography, drawing, painting, ceramics, jewellery, fashion and competitive sports were all outlets for his extensive interests as a youth in London.

Early adulthood saw Justin delving more deeply into his painting and working as a resident DJ. It was then that he became swept up in the tide of technologies, production tools and techniques that were emerging at the time, such as digital photography, video, 3D and interactive media.

Justin has lived and worked in Europe, North America, Africa and Australia with a wide range of clients, from startups to global giants such as Coca Cola, Target and Cadbury. These experiences have given him a truly global perspective and appreciation for the many cultures of the world.

A seasoned veteran in both analogue and digital media, Justin’s never-ending thirst for knowledge and his passion for learning new skills, ensures that he is always up-to-date with the latest tech and trends.

Clients and colleagues know him to be both a forward-thinker and great fun to work with. Above all, Justin feels that success comes from the ability to understand the needs of his clients.
